Arts Recipients from Italy 2005

Since 2003 the Alcorso Foundation has provided funding in partnership with Ten Days on the Island to bring Italian artists to Tasmania on a biennial basis.
2005 / MICHEL GIGANTE
Michele from Marano Lagoon, near Venice in Italy, visited Hobart Tasmania in the early months of 2005 as a guest of the Tasmanian School of Art.
Michele designed and created a light installation in the Atrium of the Henry Jones Art Hotel as part of the Ten Days On The Island arts festival.
Michele's works are a meditation on themes connected with 'journey'.
The installation, First Step, created a journey through different experiences in perception of what is real and how that perception can change the personal view.
The Alcorso Foundation would like to thank the Tasmanian School of Art, Hobart City Council, Ten Days On The Island and The Henry Jones Art Hotel for their support in this project.
