Our work AuSSi-Tas
The Alcorso Foundation enthusiastically supported AuSSi-Tas (Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative, Tasmania) between 2007 and 2011 recognizing achievements in educating for sustainability.
The Foundation presented one school from three regions: South, North and North West in years 2008, 2009 and 2010. In 2011 the Alcorso Foundation partnered with Keep Australian Beautiful (Tasmania) increasing the number of awards to six across the three regions between primary and high schools.
The Foundation identified Aussi-Tas as an outstanding program that not only educated children but created a wide spread of awareness through families, friends and community.
In 2010 Aussi-Tas also partnered with the Alcorso Foundation's Environmental Residency program to bring acclaimed international Environmentalist, Dr. Anna Giordano to Tasmania. Aussi-Tas hosted Dr. Giordano in visiting eleven schools across the state to share the benefits and importance to preserving our environments and inhabitants.
Aussi-Tas developed a profoundly important educational tool for Tasmania’s schools. Establishing key partnerships they added value to the wider community through the delivery of its environmental sustainable education program. Children are our future, they our strongest conduit for ‘change’ within the home and we congratulate Aussi-Tas for their vision and success.
