The Alcorso Story

The Alcorso Foundation was established in 2001 to honour the late Claudio Alcorso.

Claudio is remembered for his extraordinary vision and his significant contribution to the economic, artistic and cultural development in Tasmania.

The Foundation continued Claudio and Lesley Alcorso’s legacy by enabling individuals and organisations to make a positive difference to the social and cultural fabric of Tasmania through its three program areas: Arts, Environment and Social Justice.

Viticulture 2016 - Fran Austin

The Don Martin Sustainable Viticulture Fellowship for environmental innovation in viticulture and wine-making

The Dr Don Martin Sustainable Viticulture Fellowship was initiated by the Alcorso Foundation to commemorate influential Tasmanian viticulturist, Dr Don Martin. The Fellowship is available to Tasmanian-based practising professionals working in Tasmania’s wine sector to encourage research across viticulture/oenology for the benefit of the Tasmanian wine sector as a whole.

The Arts Tasmania Claudio Alcorso International Arts Residency

This program supports individual artists working in any artform to undertake self-directed residencies and professional development opportunities overseas. It is offered in partnership with Arts Tasmania.
